We offer the best shade fabrics for use in tensile fabric architecture. Applications range from small shade panels and roman shades to large commercial shade sail structures. Shade fabric is made from extruded high density polyethylene, or HDPE. Depending on the color and type of knit used, it can block up to 97.6% UV rays, and withstand years of exposure to harsh sunlight. The knitting patterns differ between fabrics, but all of them create a breathable fabric that blocks the sun and doesn't trap heat.
Each fabric comes in an array of colors, and can be purchased in full rolls or cut to length. This makes it easy on you, whether you need shade fabric for a single project, or you'll use multiple rolls. First choose the shade fabric you'd like to purchase here, then choose your color and length on the next pages.
About Gale Pacific Shade Fabric
Commercial 95 340
Commercial 95 is the standard shade fabric for a variety of applications. This high density polyethylene (HDPE) fabric is durable and well-suited for small to medium shade sails, roman shades, shade panels, and most other shade structures. HDPE is unaffected by moisture and will not mold. It blocks up to 97.7% UV rays, and provides shade and relief from the heat of the sun. Commercial 95 is made to last years without rotting in the sun like other fabrics. The lock stitch pattern of monofilament and tape yarns prevents tears from spreading.
You can purchase Commercial 95 shade fabric by the roll (9'10" x 131') or cut to length, in any of 16 available colors.
Commercial FR 300
While all high density polyethylene (HDPE) shade fabrics are flame retardant to a degree, Commercial FR 300 is specifically made to a higher standard of flame resistance. It's been tested and adheres to the California State Fire Marshall certification, European M1 standards, and other fire rating standards worldwide. If your shade project requires specific fire rated fabric, this is the safe choice you're looking for.
Like Commercial 95, FR 300 is knitted in a monofilament and tape pattern designed to reduce the spread of tears. It is mold and water damage resistant, and blocks up to 95% of UV rays.
FR 300 comes in 8 colors, in rolls of 9'10" x 105'.
Commercial Heavy 430
Heavy 430 is made of round high density polyethylene (HDPE) monofilaments. It has been specifically engineered to handle the massive loads of large commercial shade sails and other large span tensile fabric structures. While many shade fabrics stretch more in one direction than the other, the special knit used to manufacture Heavy 430 was designed to provide increased biaxial strength and stability, meaning that its strength is more consistent and independent of direction.
Heavy 430 blocks up to 94% UV rays, providing protection from the sun and a comfortable shaded space beneath. It is ideal for large commercial projects due to its strength.
Heavy 430 comes in 13 colors and can be purchased in rolls of 9'10" x 131'.
About Polyfab Shade Fabric
Polytex® is a light weight shade fabric that is great for small to medium projects. At 7 oz. per sq. yd., it is the lightest of the fabrics offered on ShadeFabric.com. This makes it ideal for residential and outdoor leisure areas. Polytex® is made of extruded high density polyethylene (HDPE), that is strong and durable. It is resistant to water damage like mold and mildew. This shade fabric blocks up to 97% of UV rays and provides pleasant shade. It is made of a monofilament and tape yarn knit that is designed to stop tears from spreading.
Polytex® comes in 18 unique colors and can be purchased in rolls of 12'6" x 99'.
Comtex® is a heavy duty high density polyethylene (HPDE) shade fabric ideal for medium sized projects. It is ideal for applications where extra strength is needed. Comtex® provides comfortable and safe shade, blocking the heat of the sun as well as up to 98% of its UV rays. As an HDPE fabric, it doesn't sustain water damage and won't rot in the sun. Like Polytex®, Comtex® is knit with monofilament and tape yarns to prevent tears from spreading.
Any of the 17 colors of Comtex® can be purchased in rolls of 12'6" x 99'.
Architec 400 is an extra heavy duty shade fabric designed for applications where extreme strength is necessary. While Polytex® and Comtex® both employ a monofilament and tape yarn combination, Architec 400 uses monofilament yarn and their own Ovalon monofilament yarn. This not only provides additional strength, it also minimizes the stretch in the warp and weft directions, meaning that the sails will maintain tension longer. Strength and minimal stretch are important for large span shade sails and other large shade structures. This shade fabric blocks up to 96% UV rays and provides cool shade.
Architec 400 comes in 12 colors and can be purchased in rolls of 12'6" x 165'.
